2024 Training Camp Report Dates for Detroit Lions Released

On Tuesday, the NFL announced the training camp report dates and locations for each team. The Detroit Lions will reconvene at Allen Park starting July 20.

The Lions wrapped up their OTA and minicamp sessions in mid-June and are now on a summer break. During this period, most players are training independently, working out at facilities, participating in player-organized sessions, or simply taking a break and vacationing. New team members will use this time to settle into their new homes, while injured players will stay in town to continue their rehabilitation.

On July 20, all rookies will report to Allen Park for their initial acclimation. Some veterans, particularly those recovering from injuries, will also report at this time, though it is not mandatory. The rest of the veterans are scheduled to report on July 23, at which point they will undergo conditioning tests before joining team activities.

After passing their physicals, players will commence on-field practices shortly—usually within a day or two. During the NFL-mandated five-day acclimation phase of training camp, the media is typically allowed to attend practices. In this period, players don’t wear pads, using shells instead towards the end, and focus primarily on conditioning their bodies for camp and the long season ahead.

Fans generally have access to practices near the end of the acclimation phase or shortly after it concludes. In 2023, the Lions opened camp to the media on July 23, and fans were welcomed into Allen Park on July 29.

As of now, the Lions’ official training camp dates and the schedule for fan attendance have not been announced. For context, last year, this information was released on June 27.
