It’s a Monday night showdown: Detroit Lions versus the Green Bay Packers. In a pivotal division game, here are five Lions players who need to show up in a big way.
1. DT Damon “Snacks” Harrison
Harrison has not had a good year this season. Maybe not even an average one when compared to his own standards. However, against a division rival and going up against a running back who just score four touchdowns in his last game, the Lions need desperately for Harrison to return to form on Monday night.
2. TE T.J. Hockenson
Hockenson has been cleared from concussion protocol and will play his first game at Lambeau. The Lions have been a different team with him out of the lineup. Hockeson’s impact is not always seen on the stat sheets, but he is always making a play either in the pass or run game.
3. QB Matthew Stafford
The quarterback position is always highly important. Stafford has “out-quarterbacked” almost anyone he has been put up against this year — including Patrick Mahomes and Carson Wentz. On Monday night, he will need to do it once more by outdueling Aaron Rodgers, which Stafford has done when they have faced off the last few years. Can/will Stafford do it one more time? We will see on Monday.
4. WR Marvin Jones Jr
Jones has been a consistent outlet for Stafford this year. While Golladay has taken the majority of the deep passing routes and redzone targets this season, Jones has been consistent at bringing in the difficult catches. Jones has settled into a more reliable possession roll with the team. With the Packers defense focusing on teams top receivers, Jones may be able to slip through a few cracks to make some big plays.
5. LB Jarrad Davis
Davis has not shown us that he has improved his game throughout this years. I understand he has dealt with some injuries, but the captain of the defense is getting outplayed by a rookie linebacker in Jahlani Tavai. Davis needs to step up if he wishes to keep his starting job. It only is a matter of time until the coaching staff notices too.
