1. RB Kerryon Johnson
Ready or not, here he comes. Kerryon Jonhson is set to come back against the Broncos despite 90% of the fan base not wanting him too. Between the draft implications and another potential injury, what’s the point? It will be interesting to see how him and Scarbrough are used when both are healthy.
2. RT Tyrell Crosby
Crosby draws the short straw and has to go up against Von Miller this week. However, Von Miller is having the worst year of his professional career. He is on a pace for a career-low in sacks, quarterback hits, tackles, and tackles for loss. That being said, he still does have seven sacks this year.
3. TE Logan Thomas
Thomas has passed big-name free agent Jesse James on the Lions depth chart and each week seems to be pulling further away. He is being used on a larger percent of snaps and has done more with less than James in the passing game. James has more targets while having fewer yards and touchdowns. Look for Thomas to try to have a breakout game against the Broncos.
4. DE Trey Flowers
Flowers matches Von Miller’s sack total this year with seven. Flowers is neck and neck with Kennard for the Lions lead in sacks, tackles for loss, and quarterback hits. Flowers got off to a slow start this season but has really been tearing it up the last six-seven weeks. Look for Flowers to continue his path to lead the team in these major categories.
5. WR Danny Amendola
Amendola is only 49 yards away from a new career-high in a single season. What makes this most impressive is the fact he is the third wide receiver, behind Golladay and Jones. He was targeted behind Hockenson before he went down as well making him option four. On top of that, he is 34 years old and had to learn a new offense. In addition to those factors, he only got to play with starting quarterback Matthew Stafford for half a season, then had to play with Driskel for three games and Blough for three games. So with backups quarterbacks and that backup’s backup, Amendola is still having a career year.
