Week 12: Lion Lowdown’s Thanksgiving Picks

James Gullett ((Last Week 4-1) This Season 25-13)

Vikings at Lions
Pick: Lions 17-14
Reason:  This game will be close, but if the Lions can win on the road against the Vikings, then they can win at Ford Field. The Lions have won the previous three games versus Minnesota– sweeping them last year and also the week 4 matchup earlier this season.

In their first meeting this year, Abdullah had 94-yards and came oh-so-close to that ever elusive 100-yard rush game. Now that Decker is back, could he open up some more holes and allow Abdullah to get 100?

Stafford was held to 209 yards in the first game, but that was without one of his best targets in Golladay. Perhaps the rookie could make an impact to give the Lions more breathing room on the scoreboard? I say yes.

Jace Osborn-Sweet ((Last Week 4-1) This Season 23-15)

Vikings at Lions
Pick: Lions 21-17
Reason: This could be the biggest game of the season for both teams. Minnesota is coming off a big win over the explosive Rams. They only let them score seven points compared to the 30 PPG they were averaging on the season. With that being said, Detroit has already beaten The Vikings in Minnesota this year. I expect it to be a close, grind-out game where Detroit’ss defense forces 2+ turnovers and Darius Slay seals the deal for the second Thanksgiving in a row.

Tyler Bantle ((Last Week 3-2) This Season 6-4)

Vikings at Lions
Pick: Lions 23-21
Reason: Detroit is on a three-game winning streak on the season and a four-game winning streak on Thanksgiving. Matthew Stafford has thrown 8 TDs and 0 INTs in his last three Thanksgiving appearances and has 7 TDs to just 1 INT during the Lions current 2017 three-game winning streak. Minnesota is coming in hot as well, but they are reliant on a stout defense and an opportunistic offense. The hot Lions offense will score points, forcing Case Keenum to beat them from the pocket. I’ll take Stafford over Keenum any day that ends in Y.

WalkerKelly ((Last Week 4-1) This Season 4-1)

Vikings at Lions
Pick: Lions 20-17
Reason: This is an extremely hard game to pick as both teams are on winning streaks of three or more games. The two positions that will swing this game in favor of the Lions are quarterback and kicker. Matthew Stafford will lead the team into field goal range late and Matt Prater will win the game and make Thanksgiving dinner taste so much better.
