According to multiple reports, the Detroit Lions have agreed to a contract with free agent linebacker Elijah Lee.
Lions have agreed to terms with 2 LBs, Reggie Ragland and Elijah Lee. Got a pretty full LB room now— Dave Birkett (@davebirkett) March 27, 2020
Full contract details were not disclosed.
As a 2017 seventh-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings, Lee provides his value on special teams. After the San Francisco 49ers plucked him off the Vikings practice squad his rookie season, Lee went on to play in 38 games with six starts during his three years with the 49ers.
In his career, he has a total of 76 tackles, one sack, and two passes defensed.
At only 6-foot-2 and 229 pounds, he isn’t a great fit as a true linebacker for Matt Patricia‘s scheme, but that’s probably not why the Lions signed him. In a now loaded linebacker room, he will likely complete with Jalen Reeves-Maybin for a roster spot.
LB Elijah Lee has played 200+ ST snaps in all 3 seasons earning a 70.0+ ST grade in 2 of them (career-high 75.5 in 2019, including a strong postseason)— PFF DET Lions (@PFF_Lions) March 27, 2020
