In a corresponding move, the Lions signed QB Jeff Driskel. Driskel was put on IR by the Cincinnati Bengals this year but was recently released on an injury settlement. Last year, the 6-foot-4 signal caller started five games for the Bengals. He was originally drafted in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
Josh Johnson won the Lions reserve job over Tom Savage after being signed mid-preseason. The 33-year old has bounced all around the league in his NFL career and he is on the streets once more.
