According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Lions appear to be out of the running for free agent Johnathan Hankins.
A second note from Florida: Lions are not currently in on Hankins, so everyone who’s asked can stop asking.

There were reports last week that the recently cut defensive tackle was going to visit Detroit.
After GM Bob Quinn signed DT Sylvester Williams, it’s probably safe to assume that Hankins is commanding too much money on the open market. The 6th-year Detroit native is a premier nose tackle and was graded out as PFF’s third-best run stopper last year for the Indianapolis Colts.
The Lions currently have roughly $10-million in open cap space this year. Hankins would likely soak up a majority of the remaining cap unless they gave him a heavy multi-year backloaded contract.
