Detroit Lions sign DE Eric Lee to active roster, waive OT Andrew Donnal

The Detroit Lions have promoted DE Eric Lee to the active roster from their practice squad. In a corresponding move, they waived OL Andrew Donnal from the 53-man unit.

Donnal has struggled with a knee injury since being claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens before week 1. This past week was the first time Donnal was able to fully participate and complete a practice.

Per DetroitLions.com:

“(Eric) Lee began the season on Detroit’s practice squad after most recently spending time on the New England Patriots’ active roster in 2017, appearing in six games (five starts) with 19 tackles, 3.5 sacks and one interception. He also appeared in three postseason contests (one start) and logged four tackles for the Patriots.

Originally entering the NFL with the Houston Texans in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of South Florida, Lee has also spent time on the Buffalo Bills’ active roster and practice squad (2017), as well as the Texans’ practice squad (2016).”

With DE Ziggy Ansah out once again, Lee will provide depth with some starting experience in Patricia’s system to fill the void.
