It is only a one-year deal and the contract details were not disclosed.
Francois, 31, was originally a 7th round draft pick in 2009 out of LSU. At 6-foot-3, 313-pounds with some familiarity with HC Matt Patricia’s scheme, he will at least be a depth piece for the Lions.
Important to note, he was cut multiple times last year. In saying this, the 9th year veteran found a role at the end of last season with the New England Patriots— probably a similar one that he will play in Detroit.
Francois has 12 sacks in 37 career starts with five teams (San Francisco, Indianapolis, Washington, Green Bay and New England). He only had a total of 12 tackles last year in 12 game appearances.
