The Detroit Lions announced another defensive addition today with the signing of 32-year old DE Robert Ayers.

To make room, the Lions parted ways with CB Josh Okonye.
Ayers contract is a one year deal. Financial details were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound end has played in 120 career games and has ammased 59 starts with 34.5 sacks. During his time in the league, he has played with the Broncos, Giants and Buccaneers.
He has started at least 10 games the past three seasons. Despite his age, the former 2009 first-round selection is still a disruptive force.
Fans will see low sack totals and think Ayers doens't have much left in the tank, but over the past two seasons, no edge defender has more hits on the QB than Ayers' 35.

Being more of a traditional defensive end, he will most likely be used in a similar role to Ziggy Ansah, Anthony Zettel and Kerry Hyder.
