Some unfortunate news for the Detroit Lions third-ranked rush defense. Haloti Ngata’s injury he sustained during the Carolina Panthers game will be a season-ender.
The Lions placed him on IR and have signed former Lion defensive tackle Caraun Reid.

In what was initially thought to be an elbow injury, it would appear that it was actually a biceps tear. You could deduce that he is most likely suffering from a distal biceps rupture, hence the reason for the confusion around his elbow.
If that injury speculation is the case, surgery is required with no chance at a possible return this season.
With the 33-year old being in the last year of his contract, last week may have been his final game in Detroit, maybe even in the NFL. The 12-year veteran has had a solid Pro Bowl career.
Reid returns to Detroit after originally being drafted by former GM Martin Mayhew. Selected in the fifth-round (158th overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft, he played for two seasons while appearing in 26 games with 12 starts.
His most recent stint was with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2016 and the 2017 preseason.
Ngata’s production and veteran leadership will be sorely missed.
