After the release of RB Zach Zenner, the Lions have replaced his roster spot with the undrafted rookie from Washington State. He entered this year’s draft as a redshirt junior.
Williams is only 5-foot-9, 197-pounds, but he has some serious value in the receiving department — at least at the college level. He had 202 receptions for 1,437 yards out of the backfield in Mike Leach’s offense. As a rusher, he amassed 316 carries, 1,539 yards, 19 touchdowns with a career 4.9-yards per carry average.

A bit concerning, Williams has already been bouncing around the NFL. He spent some time with the Kansas City Chiefs following the draft and then was picked up by the Indianapolis Colts to only be released last week. The New England Patriots showed interested by giving Williams a workout as well.
The Lions might have a role in mind for him, but he most likely is just a fourth preseason game body and a potential practice squad candidate.
