5 Key Matchups for the Detroit Lions vs Seattle Seahawks

Two 3-3 NFL teams square off in a game that could be very important for Wild Card chances down the road. Here are five key matchups for the Detroit Lions versus the Seattle Seahawks:

1. RB Kerryon Johnson vs LB Bobby Wagner

Bobby Wagner has been known as one of the best linebackers in the NFL over the last few years. Johnson is taking the league by storm and coming off a career game with over 150 rushing yards last week against the Miami Dolphins. This should be a very interesting matchup to keep an eye on for the duration of the game.

2. DT Damon Harrison vs C Justin Britt

Harrison was brought in for one reason only– to stop the run. The Seahawks have been notorious for having a weak offensive line for a number of years now. Harrison should only get a handful of snaps this week because he has not had enough time to adjust to his new defense.

3. CB Darius Slay vs WR Doug Baldwin

If Slay can lock down Baldwin and not allow Wilson to find his favorite target, then the defense should have enough time to get to him for a sack.

Baldwin has been hit-or-miss this year after struggling with some nagging injuries, however, he’s coming off a close to 100-yard performance last week, and Slay has been struggling a bit recently as well.

4. WR Marvin Jones vs CB Shaquill Griffin

Griffin is the top corner in Seattle secondary. Jones has not been the top target in this offense like he was last season. I expect Jones to have a big game with defenses now focused on Golladay and stopping the improved run game.

Marvin has been quiet for too long and could use a breakout game.

5. LB Jarrad Davis vs RB Chris Carson

Carson has surprised a few people this year beating out first round pick rookie RB Penny. Carson is outperforming the rookie and will continue to get more carries.

Davis is coming off his best game as an NFL linebacker. Not only was he filling the gaps on run plays, but was also consistently on his man’s hip in his pass coverage all game.
